I opened Past Pieces Vintage in 2008 to downsize and find homes for the dinnerware, dishes, glassware, and odds and ends that I'd loved collecting.

Somewhere along the way, my interests changed when I bought a handful of crumpled silk scarves at a local women's shelter thrift store. In that bunch was a Vera scarf; that blue and white scarf piqued my interest and I fell in love with Vera Neumann, the woman and the artist. It also reawakened my love for scarves, those wonderful silken pieces of artwork that can be worn around one's shoulders or wrist, tied on a purse handle, made into a pillow, or framed and hung on a wall. I love them all!

The love for Vera Neumann also sent me back to the decades when she was so prolific, the 60s and 70s specifically. Clothing and accessories from those decades. Linens and housewares, and yes, some dinnerware :).

The quality of vintage clothing and accessories has begun my own journey of reduce, reuse, renew, recycle, do with less, use it more, etc. Fast, disposable fashion has replaced quality, displaced investing in clothing, and has created some really ugly clothes. Not preaching here, just sharing my personal evolution :).

I've taken the vintage pledge and everything I sell is at least 20 years old, but usually much older. I do a lot of research; pattern names; company names; dates of production; designers; logos and trademarks; RN numbers; fabric content; all the tools available to identify a particular piece.

I don't have a dedicated studio or workspace. My home is my warehouse, photography studio, and shipping department. Bins, boxes, bags, and roling racks are my friends. Labels are crucial.

I love selling vintage and will never misrepresent any garment, accessory, or otherwise. Integrity is a precious thing and I'll always be honest with you.
